Fossils

Footprints of 11 vertebrate species have been described on the footprint-bearing sandstone, which was conserved by volcanic tuff covering.
It was due to the sudden volcanic catastrophe, which buried and conserved the paleohabitat, that fossil remains in so many plentitude survived. The site is considered the prime fossil locality of Hungary.
