Welcome!

European Geoparks' students at Ipolytarnoc

On October 29, 2013 students of European Geoparks came to visit the Miocene Park of Ipolytarnoc.

The representatives of geopark schools were hosted by prof. Laszlo Kordos (Nograd Geopark Association) and Imre Szarvas (Bükk National Park Directorate).
The day-long program included lectures on geoparks, in situ presentation on a newly excavated area, guided tours on ground and on the canopy path beside the 4D movie time travel.

Background of the event:
Francisco Sousa geology teacher in João Afonso School, Aveiro, Portugal (Arouca Geopark) initiated the Comenius project,  a multilateral partnership, involving students of age 13-15 from different countries of European Geoparks.
The project was accepted, but ironically the lead partner became excluded because of the financial problems of Portugal it could not get the host's endorsement. The Líceum of Pásztó (Novohrad-Nógrád Geopark) took over the management of the program, which started this fall.
